CHCVOL001 Be an effective volunteer describes the skills and knowledge required to work effectively as a volunteer in a variety of capacities and contexts. This unit applies to a range of sectors. The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and state/territory legislation, national standards and codes of practice for volunteers.
This Learner guide provides an ideal starting point for the wide range of people who are attracted to volunteering. It describes the essential skills required to volunteer with an organisation in a variety of capacities and contexts. It also provides an understanding of the nature of volunteering by reflecting on its reciprocal benefits to both parties.
The learning content prepares students for the world of volunteering by including: - A diverse range of realistic workplace examples across a variety of organisations and industries - Explanations of the standards and declarations that underpin the sector - Opportunities for accessing support and self-reflecting on personal values
