CHCDIV002 Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety describes the skills and knowledge required to identify Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety issues in the workplace, model cultural safety in own work practice and develop strategies to enhance cultural safety.
This Learner Guide describes how to identify cultural safety issues in the workplace. It then explains how to model cultural safety in your own work. Lastly, the material details how to develop and evaluate strategies to improve cultural safety.
The learning content builds knowledge and understanding by using: • Step-by-step instructions on grounding your work in awareness of your cultural biases • Straightforward explanations of how to improve communication with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and colleagues • Learning Checkpoints at the end of each topic to build knowledge of historical, social, political and economic issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples • A range of examples and case studies that demonstrate how to develop strategies to promote cultural safety in the workplace
