This Learner Guides describes how to develop and adjust approaches to facilitate empowerment for people receiving support. The material then explains how to use a person-centred approach to deliver services that foster human rights and facilitate choice and self-determination.
The learning content builds knowledge and understanding by using: • Step-by-step instructions on employing flexible, adaptable and person-centred approaches • Straightforward explanations on how to respond to the goals and aspirations of the person • Learning Checkpoints at the end of each topic to build knowledge on individual, emotional and environmental barriers to empowerment and how to address them • A range of examples and case studies that illustrate how to maintain a positive and respectful relationship with the person in a way that facilitates empowerment
