CHCCCS017 Provide loss and grief support describes the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to the needs of people who are experiencing loss, grief and bereavement.
This Learner Guide describes how to recognise reactions to loss and grief. It then details how to interact with individuals with empathy, sensitivity and professionalism and how to offer them support and information. The material explains how to recognise and minimise risks to yourself with grief and bereavement support. Lastly, it outlines how to review the support that was provided for continuous improvement.
The learning content builds knowledge and understanding by using: • Step-by-step instructions on applying effective communication skills • Straightforward explanations of how to respond effectively to people experiencing loss, grief, bereavement or trauma • Learning Checkpoints at the end of each topic to build knowledge of features and expressions of grief and how they may vary • A range of examples and case studies that illustrate how to provide an individual who is grieving with information clearly and sensitively
