CHCCCS002 Assist with movement describes the skills and knowledge required to support people who require assistance with basic physical movement which may be due to incapacity. This unit applies to workers in a range of community services or health contexts who provide front line support services within the context of an established individualised plan.
This Learner guide outlines the requirements for assisting a person with movement. It introduces what is required to prepare a movement before explaining in detail how to safely execute the many different types of movements learners are likely to encounter. Several unique scenarios support the learning content so that learners are introduced to an array of support services and workplace environments. Each topic is structured to reiterate the importance of following workplace policies and procedures, and each section outlines the reporting requirements for the steps in a movement task. This means that students of this unit will be equipped to assist with movement safely and professionally.
The learning content builds knowledge and understanding by using: • Step-by-step instructions for assisting a person with movement • Industry-specific scenarios that provide realistic contexts • Detailed diagrams that simplify human biomechanics • Learning checkpoints at the end of each topic to reinforce key concepts
