Ross House Association: Tenant Info Sharing Day

28 May 2024 08:17

This week, Aspire attended Ross House Association's Tenant Info Sharing Day led by Lotus Group Inc., a self-help collective for individuals with neurological impairments. Sponsored by the City of Melbourne, this community event showcased impactful community advocacy groups from within our building who shared their initiatives and histories.

Presenters and attendees included:

  • Housing for the Aged Action Group (HAAG): Assisting older private renters with secure and sustainable housing, offering free and confidential advice, and engaging with government bodies on housing issues.
  • Brain Injury Matters (BIM): Empowering individuals with acquired brain injuries to live dignified, meaningful lives among the community.
  • STAR VICTORIA INC: Advocating for the rights of people with intellectual disabilities and their families, aiming to change community attitudes and laws that support everyone to live fulfilling lives.
  • ABC Friends Victoria: Raising awareness and inspiring action to support the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
  • Disability Resources Centre: Providing free individual advocacy for adults with disabilities in greater Melbourne, and engaging in systemic advocacy to promote human rights.
  • Positive Powerful Parents Advocating for parents with intellectual disabilities, raising awareness about discrimination in the child protection system.

Raising awareness of these groups, each with a powerful message to share, aligns with both Aspire and the Aspire Foundation’s mission and values to positively impact our community. We are proud to support initiatives like these through our Foundation and be a part of such a vibrant community for good within Ross House.
